ONLINE EVENTING COMPETITION

ONLINE EVENTING COMPETITION

powered by Bavaria 0.0 Eventing Team

This format below has already been completed (Friday, April 17, 2020). Participation is no longer possible.

Bavaria 0.0 Eventing Team and its collaborating partners have joined together to create something special! All of us currently miss the atmosphere, the conviviality and the competitiveness that the eventing sport brings. We have come up with an EVENTING COMPETITION to continue to inspire all at-home event riders to keep on training and to stimulate their competitive behaviour.

Tim Lips

The competition consists of 3 disciplines:

    • Dressage
    • Show jumping
    • Cross country

One discipline per week:

    • Week 14: Dressage
    • Week 15: Show jumping
    • Week 16: Cross country

Each participant submits a video per discipline of max. 60 seconds. The level and age of the participants is completely open. This means that children, young adults and adult event riders can participate, whether they are at a starting or advanced level.
Attention! The videos must be recorded at the location where the pony or the horse is stabled. Travelling is not allowed.

Dressage

The participant is allowed to submit a video of a maximum of 60 seconds. In this video, the participant can show what the dressage level of the combination is. All exercises are free. For example: a participant can show a good extension of the trot, but also a correct circle, leg yielding, half-pass or a (flying) change are options. Show us the (multiple) strong points of you and your pony/horse as a combination!

The participant is assessed on:

  • Riding skills and effect of the aids
  • The straightness and relaxation of the pony/horse
  • The posture and seat of the rider

Show jumping

The participant is allowed to submit a video of a maximum of 60 seconds. In this video, the participant can show what the show jumping level of the combination is. All types of jumps (and their height) are free. For example: a participant can show a vertical jump, but also a combination, an oxer or a mini course are options. Show us the (multiple) strong points of you and your pony/horse as a combination!

The participant is assessed on:

  • Riding of the lines towards and after the obstacle(s)
  • Control of the tempo and impulsion
  • The straightness and relaxation of the pony/horse
  • The posture and seat of the rider

Cross country

The participant is allowed to submit a video of a maximum of 60 seconds. In this video, the participant can show what the cross country level of the combination is. All types of jumps (and their height) are free. No cross country obstacles available? Be creative! Jump over an empty food barrel, a small table or your mother’s flower bed in the garden. As long as it is performed safely! Show us the (multiple) strong points of you and your pony/horse as a combination!

Classification and assessment

Every Monday, the videos are assessed and rated on a scale of 1-10. This is done by 3 times Olympic and Dutch rider Tim Lips in collaboration with the other commercial Bavaria 0.0 Eventing riders (Elaine Pen, Sanne de Jong, Aliene Ruyter or Nina de Haas). On Tuesday morning the (provisional) ranking will be put online on the website, the Facebook page and the Instagram page. After assessing the last discipline, the final score is drawn up.

Prices:

In the final ranking there are the following prices for the top-3 best riders (style):

    1. Martingale classic (CWD) and a full set of Air Tech eventing boots (Kentucky Horsewear)
    2. Sweet Iron loose ring snaffle, single or double jointed (TRUST) and a cool, high-quality garment (Onori Fashion & Gifts)
    3. Bag with Blue Hors goodies (Welfare Horse & Care)

To make it even more fun, there is an overall originality prize for the participant who submits the most original or funniest video during the competition: a pair of Jodhpurs (Petrie Ridingboots) and a free photoshoot, with your horse of pony at your desire, made by our photographers (ROS Fotografie).

For the best and most fanatic rider of 18 years or older, there is a nice Bavaria 0.0 beer package to win, including a beer cooler, a beer glass and different types of 0.0 beer (Bavaria).

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

You can enter the competition from the moment you have posted/sent a video. You are eligible for the final classification if you have posted a video of all three disciplines (on time).

This is allowed, but is not a requirement. An originality prize will also be awarded. Do you jump your mini course in a funny outfit? Then you might have a chance to win this!

No, participation is completely free. Feel free to encourage your friends to participate.

The Online Eventing Competition is, of course, all about the key points of a real competition: atmosphere and competitiveness. However, creativity and fun play a major role in this online version! Perhaps you can borrow some poles somewhere? A flower box, some small hedges, a tree trunk, a small table or a natural water ditch? It doesn’t need to be tackled big. It is mainly about the style assessment and the creativity.

All videos must be made at home/at the stable. We would like to inspire people to be creative within the preparations. A little fun, despite the current world situation. Videos of competitions and/or training under guidance of an instructor are not allowed. It is, however, allowed to have an instructor present during the filming, in the context of safety.

All videos must be made at home/at the stable, this because of the current situation regarding the coronavirus. If we would encourage people to travel with their horses (e.g. to better facilities), we, as horse lovers, do not set a good example in regard to the rest of the society. And we don’t want that. #StaySafe #StayHome

All videos must be made with 1 horse or pony. A competitor may not compete with several horses – not even one horse for the dressage and another for show jumping/cross country.
